Overview
Microsoft Germany’s Founder Initiative called “unternimm was.“ was launched in April 2005 and helps accelerate fast-growing and high-potential startup companies.
In this context Microsoft partners with regional and federal governments, private and public startup support initiatives as well as venture capitalists and other financial institutions to provide effective help.
Microsoft supports startups with both technical guidance (such as with architectural design sessions) and marketing and sales activities. These range from joint marketing collaterals to the individual introduction to Microsoft partners in Germany and internationally. Selected companies are taken on Microsoft Corporation campus visits to Redmond and Silicon Valley to better explore their opportunities within the US market.

The Microsoft Startup Accelerator Program and "unternimm was."
The Microsoft Startup Accelerator Program enhances the local capabilities of "unternimm was." The Microsoft Startup Accelerator Program is a global program from the Microsoft Emerging Business Team, launched in October 2007, aimed at accelerating the success of innovative software startups on the Microsoft platform. "Unternimm was." is a program specifically targeted to the German situation. German companies can be integrated into the program at a very early stage, for example right after they are spun off a university lab.
With “unternimm was.” and the new Microsoft Startup Accelerator Program, Microsoft can now provide a global service for those companies that are growing fast enough and are already addressing international markets.
