Newsgator a great choice for RSS reader online or in Outlook

Frank Gruber wrote a good review, published on TechCrunch,  of the current state of online feed readers. This review covered just the online web based readers, not the client applications. Newsgator and some others offer both a web based reader and a client based reader. I use Newsgator Inbox which is integrated with Microsoft Outlook, which of course is client based.

Here is a list of the RSS readers reviewed in the story. Frank concludes that Bloglines and Rojo are the richest in features.

Feedlogos  Examining traffic to my blog, the most popular readers are Bloglines (29%), Newsgator (13%), RSS Bandit (7%), MyYahoo (5%), SharpReader (5%), FeedDemon (4%), and the balance spread among a dozen or so different readers.

If you haven't tried an RSS reader I would strongly encourage you to try one of these. If you use Outlook for your email Newsgator Inbox is a great choice.

Hi Don,

This is Nagaraj, nice to talk to you. I wanted an online feed reader and went through a lot of options. I am sorry to say that these do not satisfy my requirements.

There are some of the following issues in every blog reader I see:

1. bloglines - every click on the feed assumes all the feeds in the list are read. But I have not read any of the posts in that feed.

2. Rojo - information is very clustered and is difficult to maintain them. Also, this is very slow.

3. Gritwire - Thsi is the most nice UI application with multiple views and all, but this does not allow me to import my OPML.

I dont want one which is integrated to outlook. My requirement is:

I want a reader to read on my home machine as well as my office machine.

Is there one which can satisfy this completely?

Regards,
Nagaraj
