ETRE Startup conference in Budapest

I was at the ETRE conference in Budapest last week. Audience was mostly US and Western European entrepreneurs and VCs, very few Eastern European participants, it felt like it could have been held in Silicon Valley. Format was keynotes/panels plus sessions of startup presentations. Best keynote session was Tim Draper’s pitch – interesting perspective on the future evolution of IT (particularly in greentech) and interesting song (yes, he sang to an amazed audience…) on the trials and tribulations of VC life. Very funny. Pitch and song available on riskmaster.com.

Here is a breakdown by technology area of some of the presenting companies:

·         Security: AdaptiveMobile Security (IRE), Cellcrypt (UK), NCrypt (J), MXLogic (US)

·         Online Services and content:  sMeet (G), Odigo (IS), Trampoline (UK), Sevenload (G), Goopes (FR), Trivop (FR), Wiral (SW), Quova (US), iovation (US), Mobility: a la Mobile (FR),  DigiLinea (US), Kirusa (US), SpinVox (UK), Funambol (US), Mediagrids (UK), Cellity (G), Zyb (DEN)

·         LOB: Adaptive Planning (US), Aprimo (US), DataCert (US), LogLogic (US), Transera (call center SW, US), Volutio (UK)

·         Entertainment: AdVestigo (FR), WebJam (FR), Mediaclipping (G), LemonQuest (E), UDcast (FR), Terutewn (KO), IndependentIP (NETH)

·         Telecoms: Carpo (G)
